There’s not much to be said about the premise of this story, being based on the beloved ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The twisted take on this story where Alice comes back to Wonderland as an adult isn't actually unheard of.
This is my first encounter with a such dark and horny take on a children’s classic, but I know there are more than a few out there in this genre.
Kell Frillman’s Tainted Wonderland story begins on the eighteenth birthday of Alice but, despite the disclaimer, there’s are references to underage sex in plenty.
When the adult and supremely horny Alice enters Wonderland, she has her way with Rabbit, Hatter and Cheshire while Jabberwocky – the menacing and enticing character is just on the brink of joining the list.
The novel takes its own sweet time moving away from a slew of insanely lustful and erotic sexual encounters (all extremely well written and serve their purpose) to something resembling a story. At around 50% of the book I was ready to put it down as DNF but I’m glad I didn’t.
The second half of the book is where it appears that the characters have somewhere to go and something to do other than reveling in each other’s sex.
So, this is not a Dark Romance, just a twisted fairytale and a good one at that. Even with so much out of the place sex.
I’m looking forward to the next book, Jabberwocky, because Jabberwocky is the one character this story spends some time on building.
This book is not a light travel read because you will be too uncomfortable in reading it on a flight or train with other people around you. This is a small dose of private reading pleasure and recommended, accordingly, to adults who have no qualms about triggers like child abuse.
